Student Brain Health Outreach
MindCare Medics educated more than 250 West Shore students through guest speaker presentations, brain games, sensory simulations, and interactive discussions about aging and dementia.
Connecting Generations Through Compassion
Learn MoreMindcare Medics is a student-led organization committed to promoting brain health, reducing the stigma surrounding Alzheimer's disease and aging, and building meaningful connections between students and senior citizens.
Through educational outreach, intergenerational programs, fundraising, and partnerships with local healthcare and aging organizations, we encourage students to become compassionate leaders while supporting older adults and their caregivers.
Our mission is centered on educating the community about maintaining brain health, breaking the stigma surrounding Alzheimer's disease and ageism, and fundraising to support caregivers and local aging nonprofits.
We strive to create a community in which people of all ages better understand cognitive health, respect older adults, and recognize that individuals living with dementia can continue to lead meaningful lives.
Mindcare Medics was created after recognizing that many people have limited knowledge about dementia, brain health, and the realities of aging. Misconceptions can lead to fear, stigma, and ageism, while many seniors experience isolation and a lack of meaningful intergenerational interaction.
The organization began with the goal of bringing students, seniors, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and community organizations together through education, service, and shared experiences.
Our programs help students learn about healthy aging while giving them opportunities to form meaningful relationships with seniors in the community.
Through conversations with seniors in our community, I realized how meaningful simple acts of kindness, understanding, and connection can be.
I founded Mindcare Medics to educate students about brain health and aging while creating opportunities for young people to build genuine relationships with older adults.
By challenging misconceptions about dementia and ageism, supporting caregivers, and working with local aging organizations, we hope to build a more informed, compassionate, and connected community.

We organize educational workshops and outreach events focused on brain health, healthy aging, dementia awareness, and reducing misconceptions about older adults.
We connect high school students and seniors through creative and educational activities that encourage conversation, learning, empathy, and friendship.
Students participate in cognitive games and hands-on activities that demonstrate how different areas of the brain work and why maintaining cognitive health is important.
Simulations help students understand some of the physical and sensory challenges seniors may experience, including changes in eyesight and nerve sensitivity.
Students help seniors become more comfortable with smartphones, digital tools, common cellphone features, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
We organize student-led fundraising events to support caregivers, senior services, and local aging nonprofits.
MindCare Medics hosted outreach events for more than 250 West Shore juniors and freshmen. These events included guest speakers, educational discussions, and hands-on activities exploring brain health and the effects of aging.
Participants completed brain games such as Make-a-Word and Bop-Zap-Zoom. These games challenged different cognitive functions and demonstrated the importance of keeping the brain active.
Students participated in simulations designed to show that not all cognitive and physical changes experienced by older adults are caused by Alzheimer's disease.
One simulation represented declining eyesight through glasses fitted with special lenses. Another represented nerve damage through special gloves and drinks served at different temperatures.
These activities encouraged empathy and helped students better understand some of the daily challenges seniors may face.
In partnership with the Health First Memory Disorder Clinic and One Senior Place, MindCare Medics hosted 11 intergenerational classes connecting students with approximately 130 seniors.
Class topics included:
These classes created opportunities for meaningful conversations, mutual learning, and stronger relationships between generations.
MindCare Medics raised $310 through a Holiday Bake Sale and a Spring Festival Booth.
Donated $150 of the proceeds to the Meals on Wheels program at Aging Matters.
MindCare Medics partnered with Baba Senior Outreach to create a community outreach video about their life experiences, interests, and hardships of 12 seniors in the local community. Built meaningful connections with seniors and gained insigt into the challenges they face, and identified oppurtunities to support their well-being through community service initiatives.
Additional details about upcoming workshops, intergenerational classes, technology sessions, and community outreach events will be posted here.
MindCare Medics plans to host a community Fall Fest event in August or September to increase awareness about cognitive diseases, healthy aging, and brain health in a fun and interactive environment.
The event will include multiple sponsors, and funds raised will be donated to aging nonprofits.
The event will also provide space for other student-led initiatives to promote different areas of healthcare and community wellness.
We plan to partner with Helping Seniors of Brevard to host workshops and radio broadcasts focused on technology education for seniors.
Topics may include:
MindCare Medics plans to expand its intergenerational classes to additional Buena Vista facilities and create more opportunities for students and seniors to learn from one another.
Our gallery will feature photos from student outreach events, intergenerational classes, brain health activities, guest speaker presentations, community partnerships, technology workshops, and fundraising events.
